Yleana Roman

Yleana Roman is the Senior Staff Attorney in NYLPI's Health Justice Program. Her work focuses on ensuring that undocumented immigrants with serious health conditions have access to health care. Yleana has served as a direct services immigration practitioner since 2012. Prior to joining NYLPI, she was a Staff Attorney at Immigration Equality, where she co-ran the organization’s pro bono asylum project and mentored pro bono attorneys in immigration law. She also was a Staff Attorney and then a Supervising Attorney at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington. Before attending law school, Yleana worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA community organizer in Yonkers, and there she began her commitment to immigrant communities. She received her J.D. from Columbia Law School and her B.A. from Brown University.
