Afghan Resettlement Project with Lenni Benson

I-ARC is thrilled to announce that Professor Lenni Benson, our newest team member, will be spearheading our Afghan Resettlement Project that connects refugees with pro bono attorneys who can assist them in obtaining employment based visas.

This project fits into our broader work of using every possible avenue in the immigration system to assist Afghans.

Professor Benson has won widespread recognition and numerous awards. From 2011-2012 Professor Benson was a consultant to the Administrative Conference of the United States, and prepared an extensive analysis of and recommendations for improvements to the system of immigration removal and adjudication. She is an active participant in immigrant rights projects coordinated by the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), serves on the board of the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law Foundation, and is a trustee emeritus for the American Immigration Law Foundation.

The Afghan Resettlement Project

  • Connects refugees in New York State with key resources.

  • Explores not just humanitarian relief for Afghan refugees but also seeks to find ways to connect them to business and employment-based visas.

  • Works to ensure all refugees have access to justice in New York State.
