Advanced TPS Webinar

This training will address advanced issues affecting TPS applicants, including waivers, firm resettlement, adjustment of status considerations, and simultaneous applications for asylum.

This training is eligible for up to 1.5 NY CLE Credits. This course is appropriate for new and experienced attorneys.

This training builds upon the NYSBA Temporary Protected Status (TPS) training that took place on March 25, 2022. By attending both trainings, you will receive a thorough overview of basic and advanced TPS issues that apply to people from all countries designated for TPS. Working with Experts in Immigration Court.

This training, a free CLE presentation, led by experienced advocates from the Bronx Defenders, will guide practitioners through identifying the proper expert for a case, preparing for testimony, reviewing written work, confidentiality, and more.

This will be a live video conference. A zoom link will be sent to all registrants prior to the presentation.

The Bronx Defenders has been certified by the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board as an Accredited provider of Continuing Legal Education in the State of New York.

This course or program has been approved as appropriate for both newly admitted and experienced attorneys for a maximum of 1 credit hour.

Early Immigration Initiatives of the Biden/Harris Administration

This session will provide an overview and analysis of the immigration initiatives coming out of the first 2 weeks of the Biden/Harris administration, including the moratorium on deportations and new immigration enforcement priorities, the rescission of the Muslim travel ban, the end of the Remain in Mexico policy, the redesignation of protections for Liberians, and proposed legislation creating a path to citizenship for many. Further announcements on public charge, naturalization, and asylum processing are expected on January 29 and will also be discussed. 

The training will be led by Camille Mackler, Director, Immigrant ARC and Michelle Born, Senior Manager of Training, Immigrant Services Support, New York Immigration Coalition

CLE Credit: Approximately 1.0 NY CLE credits in professional practice. This course provides transitional credit for newly admitted attorneys and non-transitional credit for experienced attorneys.

Addressing Racial Inequality In Our Workspaces

The overwhelming responses across the country to the recent events and policies/ practices that disproportionately impact BIPOC has sparked the overdue and necessary conversations on race and politics in the workplace.
