Dishpaul Dhuga
Dishpaul S. Dhuga, J.D. is the son of immigrants from India and has dedicated his career to advocating for the underserved. He graduated from York University in Toronto, Canada. After graduating from university, Mr. Dhuga moved to the Capital Region to attend Albany Law School. During his second year, he was awarded an International Human Rights Scholarship through Albany Law and interned at the South Asian Human Rights Center in New Delhi, India for the summer.
After graduating from Albany Law in 2004, Mr. Dhuga began his career at Empire Justice Center as an immigration advocate. At Empire Justice Center, Mr. Dhuga represented immigrant victims of violence in obtaining legal status through the VAWA Self-Petitioning process, U-Visa, and T-Visa (trafficking). Mr. Dhuga also provided education and training to immigrant populations and agencies assisting immigrants throughout his tenure.
Mr. Dhuga brings over twenty years of professional legal experience in the areas of immigration law, human rights, domestic and sexual violence prevention, and civil rights. Prior to joining Immigrant ARC, Mr. Dhuga has held various executive-level positions in Albany. He was the Deputy Director at the New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault, Director for the Division of Immigration Policies and Affairs at the New York State Department of Labor, and Director of Title IX and EEO Compliance at Russell Sage Colleges.
