A Message from Executive Director Camille Mackler: Celebrating International Women’s History Month

It's been a long few years since our collaborative began, united in the belief that together we could make a difference. We've made history time and again while defending immigrants from cruel and unjust policies. And as a women-led organization, we want to take this month to reflect on what that has meant for us, for the women in our network that make our Lawyer Army so fierce, and for our mothers, sisters, daughters, clients, teachers, mentors, partners, and friends.

We're kicking off next Monday with a thought-provoking event. "How Refugee Protections Fail Migrant Women: The Political is no Longer Personal" will feature experts on the intersection of gender based violence and migration policies as well as advocates working on the ground with women to help obtain the protections they need. RSVP (for free) today! And all month long we will be featuring some of the amazing women in our network on our blog, the Labyrinth. Visit often of follow us on social media to be inspired.

And as you are reading this, we are still here and still fighting. We're getting ready to serve the thousands of individuals and families likely coming to New York from the Southern Border. We're getting ready to help immigrant New Yorkers avail themselves of upcoming programs. We're playing our part in making sure the new White House Administration rebuilds our immigration system in a humane and equitable way. And we're ensuring immigrant New Yorkers get access to the COVID vaccine and to all possible relief from the pandemic.

We still have a lot of work to do. And though we honor them every month of the year, this month especially, we salute the women who have brought us here and who continue showing us the way.
